Language training

Afghan children and youths between 8 and 20 will be identified by reputable and unbiased non-governmental organizations for inclusion in the Two Sparrows program. These Kabul children and youth and orphans including, for example, orphans of the Afghan National Police killed in the line of duty will be assessed to determine an appropriate level for literacy and language training. Literacy can help these youths and language training in foreign languages can improve their ability to become appropriately employed. The intent is to ensure they are not drawn to the street. Language and literacy training addresses our first priority which is to create programs that help street beggars, orphans and street business children better themselves and allow these children to escape a dangerous life of crime.

“Catch-up” Academic or Vocational Schooling

Our priority is to help educate academically or vocationally train some of the 35,000 street children who beg or sell small items every day on the streets of Kabul Afghanistan. Many of these children are older but have little or no schooling. This means the schooling will be more intense to allow them to “catch-up” with their peers. For those who achieve foreign language skills, this may involve vocational or academic schooling abroad.
